This year due to Covid restrictions and regulations, The Discovery Center conducted a Drive-Thru Trick or Treat on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Over 584 children were able to receive many treats as they enjoyed a drive around our decorated Story Garden.
Many thanks to the businesses that contributed treats and our corporate sponsors! Weis Markets, Coughlin & Gerhart, Muench Orthodonics, Russell Farms, Friehofer’s Bakery, Sentry Alarms, Broome County Dental Association, Binghamton Devils, the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Broome County Mental Health and Frito Lay. Special thanks to our volunteers: Binghamton University’s APO organization, Dolores Wisdom, Zach Staff, the Wales family, Jim and Nancy Hargrave as well as all of our dedicated staff. We also hope you enjoyed Blossom’s Halloween costume, a ghost, sewn by our Discovery Center friend, Sandra Vest. It was a community effort to help preserve one of the rites of childhood, Halloween trick-or-treating, and support the area’s children in a safe and responsible manner.
Congratulations to our winners of the “Guess How Many Pumpkins Game”! Drive-Thru Trick or Treaters were asked how many pumpkins were on the Celebration Tree in the middle of the Story Garden. We had lots of guesses but we, of course, had to play a little trick! There were plastic buckets with jack-o-lantern faces and plastic pumpkins, too! So. we had two lucky winners of a $60 Home Goods gift card: Debbie and Robert! Congratulations on not falling for our trick!
