The Discovery Center’s first ever virtual Read-A-Thon was a tremendous success, raising over $22,000 to support the immediate needs of the Museum. As you may know, The Discovery Center has been significantly impacted by COVID-19 with the closure of the Museum and reductions in revenue from our childcare programs. Many of our longstanding summer fundraisers also could not run – so we had to get a bit creative this year.
We had no idea if a virtual read-a-thon would work and set a modest goal, crossing our fingers that we would find readers who would be willing to fundraise to make the event possible. Thirty-five amazing fundraising readers stepped forward with almost 500 donors lending their support. We could not be more grateful!
