Position Description/Responsibilities
The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier seeks Assistant Teachers for our Discovery Kids Summer Camp Program. Assistant Teachers will be responsible for assisting the Lead Teachers in the supervision of campers, maintaining high standards of health and safety in all activities, and acting as a role model for campers and staff in attitude and behavior. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service, communication, and decision-making skills. The ability to lead activities and demonstrate flexibility is necessary. Experience working with children or in the outdoors is preferred.
Required Skills/Experience
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
OR
- One year experience working with children less than 13 years of age
Desired Skills/Experience
- Associate’s Degree or higher in an Education field
- 2+ years of experience in working with children
- Camp employment experience
Compensation
- $15.50/hour
Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:30PM (June 26th – August 22nd) – flexible schedule! Additional hours may be available.
- This position is nonexempt and reports to the Director of Education
