The Mission of the Magic Paintbrush Project is "to encourage and support our community by bringing together special needs children, their families and artists to create imaginative artwork. The art created will focus on their abilities rather than disabilities while providing a therapeutic opportunity to create, explore and heal."

"Did you know that 1 in 5 children has difficulty reading? I know because I was one of them. I remember the fear of being called on to read aloud in class. But reading is an essential life skill and, like any other skill, can be improved with practice. I started BOOKS to encourage children to read more and to change the way they think about reading. " NYS Senator Libous.
By offering a program that rewards children for the time they spend reading, rather than the number of books they read, we make reading fun for every kid. And by making reading fun we open up a whole new world of opportunity for them.
